TAFY dancers, family, and friends are welcome to join us for the Independence Day Parade in Juneau, Alaska on July 4, 2021!

We are excited to participate in the Juneau 4th of July Parade again this year! Alaska Marine Lines has donated the use of a large truck and trailer, so we will be rolling in style! We have decided to go with a patriotic float decked out in Red, White, & Blue! There is a fee of $20 to participate, which covers an official TAFY logo t-shirt we provide. All ages are welcome to join us! You do not need to be enrolled in TAFY classes to participate.

We provide an official TAFY Dance Alaska logo t-shirt!

We ask that you wear the following:

  • ONLY patriotic colors: red, white, & blue (this includes jackets and other outer wear)! Black leggings or pants are also ok.

  • Tennis Shoes or jazz shoes

  • Hair can be done any way you like

Schedule for Participants

AML has offered to host a float decorating party & private fireworks viewing! On July 3rd, we will be meeting at the the Alaska Marine Lines lower yard (100 Mount Roberts Street) at 7 pm to make posters and finalize decorations!  Please bring any patriotic materials you think we can use in our float. We are also collecting candy to give out during the parade. The more the merrier, so feel free to donate a bag! Our favorite is any kind of taffy! We will have a potluck, decorate the float, and have a blast together before watching the fireworks! Even if you have other plans for the fireworks, feel free to stop by and celebrate with us for a while.

On July 4th, we will meet in the parking lot next to Cycle Alaska (the bright red building by the Douglas bridge) at 8:30 am to prepare for judging. (If you'd like to come earlier, we will be there by 7:00). Judging for our group begins at 9:00 am. The parade begins at 11.

We will not be doing the Douglas Parade this year.

Since the decoration party & parade will be outside, we will not be requiring masks for any age.

Please consider your comfort level with this when deciding to participate. You are welcome to wear a mask, if you prefer.
